Ooredoo Maldives has partnered with Huawei Marine for a $25 Million Project to deploy a nationwide fibre optic submarine cable. Using Huawei Marine's 100G technology, the cable stretches across 1200 km and will bring about key enhancements to the quality of internet connectivity. Ooredoo Maldives and Huawei Marine today announced the inauguration of Ooredoo's Nationwide Submarine Cable, an important investment by Ooredoo Maldives to strengthen its networks, as part of its commitment to power a Digital Maldives. The company stated that the project establishes the island as the Maldives' first private 5G-enabled resort, marking a significant step toward future-ready connectivity. Today, we're announcing Dhivaru, a new Trans-Indian Ocean subsea cable system that will connect the Maldives, Christmas Island and Oman. This investment will build on the Australia Connect initiative, furthering the reach, reliability, and resilience of digital connectivity across the Indian Ocean.
